Retatrutide: what the early evidence actually says
Retatrutide

Retatrutide (LY3437943) is an investigative molecule engineered to act on three hormone receptors at once: GLP-1, GIP and glucagon. In a phase 2 trial (TRIUMPH-1) published in the New England Journal of Medicine, participants on the highest dose lost around a quarter of body weight over 48 weeks — among the largest effects reported for any experimental obesity drug to date.

Important caveats apply. Phase 2 results need confirmation in the ongoing phase 3 programme. Early signals on heart rhythm and lipids require scrutiny in larger safety populations. Retatrutide is not authorised by the UAE MoHAP, the US FDA or the EMA; any preparation marketed as retatrutide outside of clinical trial supply is unlicensed.

For now, decision-making should rest on currently approved therapies. We continue to monitor the phase 3 read-outs and will update guidance as regulators review data.
