NAD+ is a coenzyme central to energy metabolism; its levels decline with age. Precursors like nicotinamide riboside and nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) are being studied as supplements to restore NAD+. Trials in humans have shown changes in biochemical markers; clinical outcomes remain uncertain.

Senolytics aim to selectively clear 'senescent' cells that accumulate with age and contribute to inflammation. Early, small human studies in defined disease settings are encouraging; broader claims of anti-ageing are not supported by approved medicines.

The point is not to dismiss these compounds — it is to handle them honestly. Until regulators authorise them as medicines, supply outside trials should be met with caution, and claims should be modest. Decisions still belong with the prescriber.
